NATURAL PROTECTED AREA : PEAT BOG TOURBIERE DES CHARMES
Presentation
A peaty bog area of 40 hectares, the second largest in the Hautes-Vosges region. It was classified as a Regional Nature Reserve on 28 March 2008 on a surface area of 68 hectares.
It is administrated by the Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels de Lorraine and has no less than 28 protected bird species, 15 dragonfly species and 44 moss species. Pedestrian access only.
The crossing of the peat bog is arranged with wooden footbridges.
To get to the peat bog, drive along the Rupt church before taking the mountain road towards Dessus de Rupt, Aufaing, Les Pâtureaux and park at the end of the tarmac road instead. said La Houssiere.
From there, follow the path on the left towards the Chalet de la Vrille signposting green ring.
After about 500 meters, turn right onto an unmarked forest path: a sign indicates entry to the Regional Nature Reserve and leads to this beautiful bog embellished with wooden walkways to protect this fragile natural site.
