Young and old alike, come discover enchanting works inspired by our forests. You’ll admire characters, animals, and other subjects shaped by time and a unique local artist, Michel l’Enchanteur.
Fifty years of perseverance and exploration in nature. A magical world set in a natural setting, where more than 1,000 pieces are on display across 480 m². The exhibition is open for most of the year (see opening hours on the website).
The museum features more than just roots; here, the term also encompasses branches, trunks, burls, and curiosities created by disease or the work of insects. Forgotten objects, embedded in the wood. Every theme is explored: the world of elves, fairy tales, and a host of animals worthy of a bestiary. The least elaborately carved pieces are nevertheless the public’s favorites—shaped by time and simply stripped bare, with details that reveal a character waiting to be brought to life. The creations are carved from a single piece of wood, breathing new life into a piece of dead wood.
The museum is on one level and accessible to people with limited mobility; it offers a reduced rate for groups of 7 or more. Wi-Fi available. Closed on Saturdays during school breaks, closed on Tuesdays outside of school breaks, open on holidays except Christmas and New Year’s Day.
