FAMILY WALK - CHAILLON CIRCUIT

Circuit de Chaillon (Municipality of Le Thillot).

Duration: 1h40.

Difficulty: easy (family walk with children).

Lenght: 3.5 kilometers.

Elevation: +126 meters.

Marking: red disc, unmarked parts.

Places of interest: the top of Chaillon with its orientation table, picnic area and small wild pond in the heart of the forest.

Departure: parking lot behind the church and the cemetery.

Access: from the center of Thillot, go up towards the church which overlooks the town.

Description of the route:

From the car park, take the path that climbs along the cemetery in the direction of "site de Chaillon".
On your left, stop at the orientation table to admire the view of the village of Thillot near picnic tables.

Continue for 200 meters on the forest path. Passage near a playground (2 swings and a hut) with benches which is on the left.
Continue straight for 100 meters still on the same path (do not take the left red disc). When you reach a new intersection with a bench, take the path which climbs between the bench and the "traffic prohibited" sign.

Continue for 30 meters to reach the "extension" apparatus and turn left for 30 meters.
Continue on the path which goes up, passing next to the "Safety cardiac control" apparatus.
Continue on the path for about 300 meters. You will pass in front of the "horizontal ladder" apparatus and
"parallel bars". Another 10 meters to reach the intersection, take the left path, not the fitness trail.

Continue on the path straight ahead towards a bench then along a meadow
for about 200 meters, you are in the center of an arboretum. Do not take the path that goes up
on the left with the sign "point of view / pond". Continue for 50 meters and take the path that
go up to the left. Another 50 meters to reach the Col de Foigneux (607 meters above sea level).

Fork to the left and take the wide unmarked path.
Continue for 150 meters, you will come to an asphalt road and a parking lot.
Cross the parking lot to the yellow bench and take the right path which runs along the meadow.

Continue straight on this path for 300 meters. You will find the "abdominal" and "traction" apparatus
and you can admire the view on your right towards Le Ménil and on your left Le Thillot
with the pond of Chaume. At the bench, follow the path straight through the ferns to reach
an orientation table and 2 benches. Take the time to discover the village of Thillot and in the 2nd plan
that of Ramonchamp with its church.

Take the path behind the second bench.
After 200 meters, you arrive at a picnic table near the Chaillon pond.
Pass near a shelter then cross the footbridge and turn left on the marked red disc path
which leads to the arboretum.

After 300 meters, take the path on the right towards "point of view".
200 meters higher, viewpoint over Fresse-sur-Moselle on the left (bench).
Continue straight between the ferns for 200 meters to reach a wider path. At this crossroads,
in front of you, you will have a viewpoint over Le Thillot and the Chaillon pond on your right.

Take the marked red disc path which descends to the left. You will be able to observe 2 twin beeches
by a branch. You then overlook the playground seen at the start of the walk.
At the crossroads, turn right onto the path taken at the start of the circuit to end the walk and join
the parking.
